Ride your way through the property with a guide as you discover our many beautiful fruit orchards, coconut fields, and stunning vistas. Whether you’re riding through a herd of zebras, spotting one of the lagoons’ many crocodiles or a tejon scampering across the trail, exploring Cuixmala by horseback is the most magical way to experience our wildlife and exotic animals.

A rare opportunity to see Cuixmala from the air during a guided airplane tour. Circle Casa Cuixmala for a once in a lifetime view of this magical building, soar above the expansive plantations for a exceptional vantage point of this stunning property and continue up the coastline to Chamela Bay, perhaps glimpsing a whale and her calf breaching off the coast or a group of dolphins frolicking in the bay.

Get out on the water for a day of fishing, soaking up the sun, or just splashing in the waves and exploring on one of two runabouts accompanied by a Cuixmala captain. Choose between a 25’ double engine catamaran that accommodates up to 8 passengers or a 22’ skiff for up to 6 passengers. All boat charters depart from Playa Caleta Blanca.

SAILING
A crewed 47’ ketch awaits for an afternoon spent sailing the coastline of Chamela Bay and the nearby islands. Jump off and swim ashore to a small secluded beach on a protected island or relax above deck and soak up the sun catching glimpses of sea turtles, stingrays, dolphins, and schools of fish. Enjoy complimentary fresh snacks and a selection of beverages in the above or below deck dining areas. Accommodates 6-8 guests and can be shared with other guests. Departs from Playa Caleta Blanca.

Join us for a peaceful cruise through our expansive lagoons where old-growth mangroves are home to more than 170 species of birds including spoonbills, egrets, storks and herons. Bring along a bottle of wine and relax as the sunset turns the sky into a blur of vibrant pinks, blues and oranges.
LAGOON TOUR
Learn about our Marine Turtle Conservation Program on Playa Cuixmala where we’ve protected more than 10,000 nests and released over half a million newly hatched turtles since its inception in 1988. From July to April, meet newly hatched turtles at Casa Rio and even help release them after dark as they journey to the sea for the first time. A truly unique and memorable experience.

BIRD WATCHING
Cuixmala is so blessed with an abundance of birdlife that you never have to look far or listen hard to experience nature’s extraordinary diversity. Casual observers can enjoy seeing and hearing both endemic and migrating birds poolside or on a morning walk. Birding is perhaps the easiest, least expensive and most rewarding way to gey in touch with the natural world. All you need is a pair of binoculars and a guide book.
TENNIS
A lighted tennis court is available for our guests’ use, located near Casa Puma. A 10-minute hike up the hill from the casitas offers a stunning view of the property on the way to the court or guests can drive up and park in the shade. A complimentary selection of tennis rackets and balls are provided and classes with a tennis pro can be arranged for $95+ per hour.

Great surfing can be found 30 minutes south of Cuixmala on a beach in the neighboring town of Arroyo Seco. We are happy to arrange an experienced local surf instructor to guide your surfing adventure or teach you to surf for the first time.
The Costa Careyes Polo Club is open from November to April, with games played both during the week and on weekends. The club features two polo fields and more than 40 ponies available for rent should you be interested in learning. Polo tournaments held throughout the season offer an opportunity to experience the exciting and glamorous world of polo just for an afternoon.
Bicycles await you just outside your casa, beckoning for a ride down to the beach or cruise around the lagoon. Venture out and explore the property on your own, or request a complimentary guided tour.
